ARLINGTON OF THE PACIFIC
WEST HAWAII VETERAN'S
CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT
AND EXPANSION  ASSOCIATION
The Arlington of the Pacific a dream conceived by members of the
cemetery association.  Once a local Boot Hill where many surviving
family members did not want to inter their loved ones.

The cemetery was maintained by the County of Hawaii and the site
had began to fall into advance stages of decay and disrepair.

The West Hawaii Veteran's Cemetery Development and Expansion
Association was formed and took over maintenance duties from the
county.  The association has dedicated itself to an upgrade of the
acreage and maintaining this beautiful Old Hawaiian landscape.  The
association is composed of members of the local veteran's
organizations, and citizens from all walks of life.

Most of the upgrades have come about from grants and hundreds
of hours contributed by citizen volunteers.  Local businesses,
citizens, schools, scouts, the Army, and the Marine Corps.

At the present the association is planting a large natural area above
the cemetery with native Hawaiian shrubs and trees.  These
upgrades, and constant maintenance will make the site live up to
the name ARLINGTON OF THE PACIFIC.
